Mummy style – the wardrobe overhaul continues

I wrote earlier in the month about how sparse my wardrobe was looking since having a clear out of all my old clothes ready for summer.

I got rid of anything that was too big (bought when I was carrying baby weight), too small (pre-kids and unlikely to ever fit me again), too saggy (after fitting over a bump and pulled up and down for breastfeeding) and too bobbly, faded or shabby (because I’ve hardly bought any new clothes during the six years I spent either pregnant or breastfeeding).

I had been feeling so down about how frumpy and dated my wardrobe was making me feel and so have been slowly updating it with stylish clothes which are also practical for life with three little ones.

And that meant getting rid of all the clothes that were past their best. The downside of the clear-out was having next to nothing left to wear, so I am slowly treating myself to some much-needed summer clothes. Following hot on the heels of the floral print top and cardigan I bought from Tesco, are two gorgeous tops from Oasis.

Oasis is one of my favourite shops. Yes, it’s one of the pricier high street stores, but I find the clothes last really well and fit my shape. I can always find something in there I love, and as I really couldn’t decide between these two tops, I decided I deserved to buy both of them.

I love the colour of this hot pink tropical print vest, £24. I go for this pink colour quite often. I thought it was feminine but feisty, with the big print and bold colours contrasting well with the delicate shape and gold trip around the neck.

I’m wearing it here with a pair of blue denim cut-off jeans, bought last year at Tesco, tan heels bought several years ago from New Look (and in desperate need of replacing), and accessorised with a pink clutch bag from Dorothy Perkins.

The blue climbing butterfly top, £30, is such a flattering shape, with its scallop trim and buttons down the back. I’ve worn it to the pub with dark skinny jeans and heels, but as I hardly go out these days, I’m more and more wearing my nice tops in the day, rather than letting them gather dust in my wardrobe. I feel so much better about myself when I am confident in what I am wearing.

So, that’s three new tops and one new cardigan. I’m getting there slowly with my new summer wardrobe but definitely not quite finished yet. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

Oh, and if you are planning on buying anything from Oasis, sign up for their email alerts, because they’ll send you discount offers every few weeks.

  1. Gorgeous – I love Oasis, seems to be one of those brands that just works on me. The colours are fab, especially the pink. You look fab in them.

Ah, thank you for your lovely comment, Cathy. Yes, same with me, Oasis is one of those brands I always seem to do really well with. I can guarantee I’ll find something in there I love. x
