Exploring Cardiff with Stokke Scoot – #stokkeonthego

I’m excited to finally reveal I’ve been working on a very special project with Stokke, the Norwegian company famous for its premium children’s furniture, buggies and other baby equipment.

They challenged us to put the Stokke Scoot buggy to the test, taking one of their most iconic pushchairs to some of Cardiff’s most iconic landmarks.

We’re part of a global project that has seen selected parent bloggers across the world showcasing different Stokke buggies. The resulting short films are being shown on the Stokke website, with videos from nine of us UK mums also featuring on the parenting website Made For Mums.

Stokke On The Go

Toddler Boy I, who is now 22 months old, was in the hot seat of our Stokke Scoot. As the third child born in just over four years, he lives a real hand-me-down life, so it was lovely for him to journey around in style in a brand new buggy, rather than the one that has been well-used by his big brother and sister.

It’s amazing how buggy technology has moved on since we bought our travel system back in 2009. The Stokke Scoot is light-weight and really easy to steer – I can do it one-handed, which is always useful when you have more than one child, and Little Miss E, my six-year-old daughter, and Little Man O, my four-year-old son, found it easy to push along too (under close supervision, obviously!).

It folds down easily in one piece, which is great if, like us, you are on the go a lot, getting multiple children and the buggy in and out of the car several times a day.

Stokke On The Go

We were excited to show the global Stokke audience some of the most beautiful sites in our home city of Cardiff. We parked up in Cardiff Bay and spent an hour or so walking around Mermaid Quay and Wales Millennium Centre (one of my favourite buildings in Cardiff, with beautiful poetry in Welsh and English inscribed on its front).

Next, we headed to Bute Park, where we discovered the lockable swivel wheels had no trouble being pushed over the grass. We could also position Toddler to sit facing us, so we could chat to him as we pushed him along, or to face forward to see where he was going.

After an hour or so of my children running around the park, we went for a walk around the Principality Stadium (as Wales Millennium Stadium has now been renamed). The buggy did well on the slatted wooden boardwalks, and Toddler was comfortable despite the bumpy surface.

The buggy, which is suitable from birth until 15kg, is designed to be compact, to fit in with city living. However, we never felt like it was too small, and Toddler had plenty of room to sit and move about. The oversized hood/canopy is perfect for napping on the go and is great as a sunshade as it has an SPF of 50+ too, while the basket is a really good size too.

Ah, thanks so much for your comment, Lindsay. Yes, it is a fab pushchair. We have been really pleased with it. We have the Tripp Trapp too and it has been amazing and lasted for all three of my children. x

Yes, a very exciting opportunity for us, and great to showcase Cardiff on their website! We have a Tripp Trapp high chair and it has been brilliant, it’s lasted well for all three of my children x

Congratulations on a fantastic opportunity. How wonderful that they picked to feature cardiff. The buggy looks good too. Love that it’s lightweight x

Ah, thanks Kerry. It’s been great to be involved. And yes, great that they chose Cardiff to feature in the campaign. Lightweight definitely helps when you have multiple children to consider… but at the same time it still felt sturdy and safe for Toddler. x

The parent facing option is important to me. Our previous buggy also had that and it is one of the things I liked most about it. And yes, so good to be able to showcase Cardiff on the Stokke website! x

  2. What a brilliant campaign to be involved in! I’m a huge fan of Stokke and we bought pretty much everything by them – bed, high chair and baby carrier, baby bath and lots of other accessories…

But with a buggy we went with another brand. Scoot looks great though, and we shall have to see if that might be for us in the future 🙂 I see it as a city stroller – we went for something a bit sturdier to deal with park rides and countryside but I have even looking at something a bit lighter for our city trips to London 🙂

That’s great to hear you are such a fan. We have the Tripp Trapp high chair and that has been brilliant. Yes, I think it is more of a city stroller, but it’s bigger and sturdier than some of the other high end buggy brands. It managed fine in the park we went to – although we didn’t test it on anything too tricky! x
