Lucky Cardiff Daddy! I do all the work on Cardiff Mummy Says and he gets sent gorgeous designer clothing to review. Online retailer Mainline Menswear asked him to pick an outfit suitable for a Valentine’s date night and to tell them about any significant first dates. Here’s what he chose.

The jeans

The jeans are by Armani J21 and are a gorgeous dark blue, thick denim, with the Armani logo on the back pocket. At £100 they are more than Cardiff Daddy would usually spend on jeans (I think he needs to treat himself more often), but the cut, quality and colour is excellent. I love them on him!

The shirt

The blue shirt is by Hugo Boss Orange. It was in the sale, reduced from £85 to £42.08, so a brilliant discount.

Cardiff Daddy had debated over the sizing of the shirt. He’s usually a medium but finds that sometimes designer brands can be a lot more fitted… and as he says he’s too middle aged for too fitted a look!

The website

Handily, the site has a useful function where you input your body measurements and the shops you usually buy clothes from, and it suggests the sizes you need. It also lets you know how many people the same size as you were happy with the fit. A great resource for online shopping.

Other designers stocked by the site include Diesel Jeans, G-Star, Ralph Lauren, Original Penguin, Paul Smith, Henri Lloyd, Ted Baker and loads more clothing and footwear brands.

Delivery

One downside is that delivery is only free if you order more than £150 of products. Otherwise it’s £4.95 for next working day delivery or £3.50 for 72-hour delivery. You’ll also have to pay to return items – although there are no further charges for exchanges.

Sweet Valentine!

But back to the outfit. He loves it, I love it. Perfect Valentine’s date night attire. It seems appropriate for us because Valentine’s Day will be the 18th anniversary of our first ever date, way back in 1999.

We were both students at Swansea University at the time and had known each other a little while before we started dating. When he had asked me out earlier that week for a drink on Sunday night to our local student pub, neither of us realised it was Valentine’s Day. I must admit I found the whole experience of being in the pub for a first date on Valentine’s Day, surrounded by lots of loved up couples so cringeworthy. We both did!

But, we had a great night, drinking pitchers of cheap beer and eating crisps, as students did in the days before wine bars were a thing. It all felt so easy and natural; we got on so well. He walked me back to my house, said goodnight… and then I got quizzed by my housemates as to how the night had gone. “He’s the kind of guy you could marry,” I said.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

So, he has the outfit! All we need now is a babysitter!

Thanks to Mainline Menswear for kitting out Cardiff Daddy in his new clothes. He genuinely loves them.

10 Comments to Daddy style – date night outfit from Mainline Menswear

  1. Lovely outfit! He looks very stylish and I love the jeans, will be showing my other half them but like Cardiff Daddy he does not like to spend too much on jeans. The outfit is perfect for a Valentine’s date, I hope you manage to find a babysitter because being a parent I can sympathise that it can sometimes be a struggle to get one especially on seasonal holidays such as Valentine’s Day. Love your Valentine’s Day story it is so sweet and makes me hope even more that you get to go on a date and celebrate such a wonderful milestone as 18 years together.

  2. Love the jeans – they’re super smart. Well done to your husband for posing for the camera, if he’s anything like mine he was probably cringing! Happy Valentines – how romantic that it celebrates your first date!

They’re great prices for those labels 😉

Our first date was at a football match so a pub sounds pretty good to me, even if it was filled with couples all loved up ha ha
