Here’s a first look inside Mermaid Quay’s Elf Workshop, which opens this Saturday.

I was lucky to have a sneak peak at the magical workshop, which is beautifully decorated with giant candy canes, a festive fireplace, tree and even a sleigh. Plus there’s a bright red post box ready for those letters to Sant.

The Elf Workshop is a free event where children can join the team of cheerful elves for crafts, games and plenty of North Pole magic.

Little ones can visit the Christmas letter-writing station and post their letters to Santa in the mini post office.

The elves will lead some fun and festive games, with giant building blocks, presents, candy canes and toys.

You can also undergo an elf transformation, with rosy cheeks, elf hats, collars and certificates.

Plus each week there will be a craft activity, with something new to make and take home.

Elf Workshops will take place at Unit 2 Mermaid Quay (opposite Coffi Co) on Saturdays 6, 13, 20 and Sunday 21 Dec (the Grinch will also be roaming around Mermaid Quay on Sunday 21 December, adding a touch of festive mischief to Cardiff Bay.)

This is a free activity on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions will run from 11am-4pm, with five 40-minute sessions per day, each with 20 spaces.

The first session of each day (10am-10.40am) is especially for children with additional and sensory needs, limited to 10 people, and must be pre-booked in advance.
