20 children needed to star in a BFG-themed selfie with The Red Dragon Centre –in return for film tickets and ice creams
One of Roald Dahl’s most famous children’s books comes to the big screen this summer, with the cinema release of Steven Spielberg’s The BFG.
The film opens nationwide on Friday 22nd July 2016.
On Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July, The Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay will be celebrating the new film – which will be showing in standard, 3D, and 3D Imax format at its ODEON Cinema – with a weekend of free family BFG-themed events in the Centre atrium, between 12pm and 4pm on both days.
Kiddles – as children are known in Gobblefunk – can make and take home their very own giant ears in the drop-in workshops, while face painting experts will be on hand to transform little faces into squiffing masterpieces.
On Saturday, you can meet and have a photo taken with a very special guest – a big Giant and Friend (at 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm).
And Saturday will also see the launch of the centre’s super-exciting summer-long competition, where one lucky winner will be treated to £500 cash, a dream day out at The Red Dragon Centre, and a bundle of BFG goodies.
For a chance to win their competition, simply snap a selfie enjoying a dream day out at The Red Dragon Centre this summer, then share on the centre’s Twitter or Facebook using #BigFamilyGiveaway
In the meantime, The Red Dragon Centre are looking for 20 Cardiff Mummy Says readers – or rather, 20 of their kiddles – to help launch their competition. The chosen children will star in a special Great Big Selfie photograph with the centre’s giant, while wearing the BFG-inspired ears they have made. The photo will be used on the centre’s social media sites, and possibly in local media too.
The children will need to come along to The Red Dragon Centre to make their ears between 12pm and 4pm on Saturday 23rd July and the photo will be taken at 4pm.
As a special thank you for taking part, the children will then receive a cinema gift voucher to see The BFG, or any other film of their choice, and an ice cream voucher for Cadwaladers Café in The Red Dragon Centre.
Based on the best-selling 1982 book, The BFG (PG) follows the adventures of 10-year-old Sophie when she meets the Big Friendly Giant (Mark Rylance). Although scared at first, she soon discovers that the 24-foot giant is actually gentle and charming. But as their friendship grows, Sophie’s presence attracts the unwanted attention of Bloodbottler, Fleshlumpeater and other not-so-nice giants. And so Sophie and the BFG travel to London to convince Queen Victoria to help them get rid of all the bad giants once and for all.
For a chance for your child/children to be on the guest list for the selfie and receive the goodies for taking part, just write the answer to the following question on The BFG post on the Cardiff Mummy Says Facebook page.
Q. What is the name of the little girl who befriends The BFG?
