Cardiff Christmas

Christmas can be such an expensive time of year. Presents, food, festive activities and the rest of it all add up.

So it’s great to see Santa’s Post Office in Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay, has opened once again. It’s a free attraction where children can write a letter to Santa and post it in the magic post box. If you fill in your child’s details at the counter, they will then receive a letter in the post a few days later.

We headed along this morning for a special launch event.

The post office itself has a magical feel, both inside and out. The front is adorned with colourful Christmas scenes and the inside has festive murals on the wall, as well as a tree, a fire scene, and a festive sleigh display. There’s a big table in the middle where children can write their letters and decorate them with Christmas stickers and stamps.

Once the lists are written, they then need to be put into envelopes pre-addressed to the North Pole and posted in the post box. Pressing the magic button on the post box sends the letter straight to the North Pole, with flashing lights letting you know it’s on its way.

Santa made a very special appearance today for the launch, chatting to children and posing for photos, but won’t usually be in attendance.
