We’ve just signed up to take part in Bubble Rush Cardiff and would love for you to join us on Sunday 27 July as Pontcanna Fields becomes a colourful sea of foamy bubbles.

Bubble Rush is a fun-filled family-friendly 5K event that will help Llamau to raise money to support young people, women, and children facing homelessness in Wales.

Participants will make their way through colourful bubble stations where foam cannons create super fun waves of bubbles in vibrant colours

There’s no pressure at all to run – you can walk, dance, wheel or push a buggy through the bubbles. The event is open to all ages and there’s no time limit either. The emphasis is on having fun in support of an important local cause.

We’ve taken part in a Bubble Rush event previously as a family and it was brilliant fun. We loved dancing in the bubbles at each station, and making sure our white Bubble Rush t-shirts (included in entry costs) ended up as colourful as possible. My children even wore swimming goggles so that they could make the most of the foam.

Foamy fun for all ages with Bubble Rush Cardiff

Bubble Rush isn’t a race. It’s all about enjoying the experience with your family and friends as you make your way through four bubble stations basting out clouds of foamy fun. And, by taking part, you’ll be supporting Llamau’s vital work to help end homelessness in Wales.

Participants will be greeted with a festival atmosphere at Pontcanna Fields with live music, family activities and a range of food and drink stalls in the event village before setting off in one of two ‘waves’ at either 11am or 12pm.

The route is fully accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs and participants of all ages are welcome. You can join in as an individual, with friends or family, with your work colleagues, or any other social group, with a finishers’ medal at the end of the event to celebrate your achievement.

Sign up now to take part – adult entry costs £16.50, children £12.50 and a family of four (two adults and two children) is £52. The entry fee covers the event costs and so the charity is asking each participant to challenge themselves to raise a minimum of £35 per person or £50 per family. Fundraising truly makes a difference to the incredible work of Llamau and will help them provide safe accommodation, emotional support, and opportunities for young people and women facing homelessness in Wales.

Every pound raised helps someone find a home, build confidence, and plan for a brighter future.

Taking part will help support young people, women and children experiencing homelessness

Llamau supports young people, women and children in Wales. They are well known for working with those most at risk – care leavers, people who have been involved with the criminal justice system, people who have experienced domestic abuse and people who have had chaotic and disadvantaged lifestyles. The charity offers high levels of individual support to help them gain the skills necessary for them to live independent and purposeful lives in their communities.

As Llamau explains on its website, you don’t have to be out on the streets to be homeless. Many children in Wales are currently homeless in ways that aren’t visible, living in unsafe, unstable conditions, moving from place to place, and lacking the basic securities of a safe home – robbing them of their childhood.

Around 10,000 women a year ask Llamau for help with homelessness. Many of them have children or are pregnant. Women could be relying on friends or family for somewhere to sleep or might be living in one of Llamau’s supported accommodation projects or domestic abuse refuges.

Many have fled an abusive relationship or have developed serious mental health issues, often as a result of historical abuse. Much emergency accommodation isn’t an option for many women, since living in a mixed-gender environment is likely to exacerbate any issues they are currently experiencing.

Around 7,000 young people under the age of 25 ask for help with homelessness in Wales every year. For many of them, their problems are far more complex than a lack of permanent shelter and they are often homeless because staying at home is not safe for them. Youth homelessness is often hidden, with young people sleeping on friends’ sofas, on floors or with strangers. They are often left with no choice but to make impulsive and potentially dangerous decisions about where to sleep each night.

Llamau believes that we all have the right to fulfil our potential, and to feel safe and secure, despite the difficult circumstances we sometimes face. The money raised at Cardiff’s Bubble Rush will help people across Wales find a home, build confidence, and plan for a brighter future.

Bubble Rush takes place on Sunday 27 July, 10am-4pm, at Pontcanna Fields, Cardiff, CF5 2AX.

You can enter now online with adults costing £16.50, children £12.50, and a family of two adults and two children £52. Corporate entries are also available.

If you, or a woman or young person you know, are homeless, sofa surfing, in an abusive relationship or at risk of becoming homeless, visit the website for details of how Llamau can support.
