Baby, toddler and pre-school classes running over the summer holidays 2016

While the big kids are all getting super-excited about the school summer holidays, it’s not so good for the pre-schoolers of Cardiff. Suddenly all the soft plays, parks and local attractions which they have had to themselves all term are full to bursting with children twice their size.

Thankfully, there are lots of classes still running over the holidays for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. I’ve put this guide together in association with the following companies, who are providing singing, dancing, and lots more for little kids over the summer.

Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory multi-award winning classes will introduce you and your baby to a world of sensory delights, where the two of you can relax, spend quality time with each other and enjoy meeting other new parents. Specifically designed from birth, the programme is packed with an incredible variety of sounds, smells, sights, textures, music, dance, signing and massage – and you’ll never experience the same class twice. Everything in a Baby Sensory class is backed by scientific research, carefully designed with your baby’s development in mind, and we are passionate about sharing our knowledge. They’ve done the research; so you can enjoy the fun.

The summer term has just started with nine sessions left, costing £58.50. The fun will include a beach party, teddy bears’ picnic and a space adventure. There are limited spaces left in some classes and parents can join at any time during the term (space permitting).

Frenchtastic are dedicated to teaching French to young children in a fun and engaging way. Songs, dance, games and drama bring the language to life and inspire your little learners in these award-winning classes.

Learning a foreign language is a valuable part of every child’s education, so why not give your child a head start with the chance to start learning French now? Learning a language in their earliest years helps children to grow in self-confidence and boosts their natural creativity.

The drop-in summer classes are suitable for children under five and cost £5 per session or £8 for two children from the same family (siblings under 18 months are welcome and free) and there is no need to book in advance. There’s free and convenient car parking at Tesco, as well as a café for a post-class catch up, or to give your children lunch after a spot of shopping.

Messy Monsters

Messy Monsters is a messy and sensory play group based in Newport for children aged 6 months to 5 years. It’s run by qualified teachers with 24 years of combined experience who are passionate about providing you with a fun and unique experience to share with your little monsters.

From painting walls to squidgy gloop, parachute games and songs, it’s everything that you want to do at home with the children but we clean up for you!
Just remember… dress for mess!

The summer classes cost £4 per child, £2 for any additional siblings.

Musical Minis

Monday 18^th & 25^th July, 1^st & 8^th August, 10.30-11.15am, All Saints Church Hall, Park Road, Barry

This class is open to anyone who would like to come along and join in. Places are limited so pre-booking is advised. Classes cost £4.70 and are suitable for children up to the age of 8; additional siblings cost £2 extra.

Tuesday 19^th & 26^th July, 2^nd  & 9^th  August, 10.30am-11.15am, Cedar Tree Farm Restaurant, Cardiff Bay Retail Park.

This class is a drop in session so no need to book in advance. This class is free of charge, subject to a food purchase (breakfast or lunch or coffee and cake). Without a food purchase the class fee is £4.50 and is paid at the till in Cedar Tree Farm. Older siblings are also welcome.

Musical Minis aims to enhance and improve learning and development outcomes for children through the use of music, movement, instruments and stories in a fun relaxed environment. Musical Minis sessions are suitable from birth upwards. Each 45 minute session includes action songs and nursery rhymes, a listening game using parachute, bubbles or floaty scarves, a short story using a visual aid such as a puppet or story card and we have a big box of percussion instruments.

Tots Play Cardiff North will be celebrating all things summer during their holiday sessions, with a different summer theme each week. Each 40-minute session will include all the usual Tots Play fun with music and movement, yoga, sign language, bubbles and sensory play, all with a summer theme! Get ready for edible sand (safe for little mouths), water play, teddy bears’ picnic, food play and lots more.

Each session is £6.50 each per child, or come to all 3 for £18. Sibling discounts are available. Places are limited at each session.

Hartbeeps put every child at the heart of their magical, musical adventures. Tempo Tots Cymru

Join Tempo Tots Cymru for exciting preschool music classes over the summer (and all year!). Each 40-minute themed session is led by professional musicians and is packed with live music, singing, puppets, bubbles and more.

The classes facilitate and enhance communication, physical development and bonding between parents/carers and their little ones. Classes are fun and informal, also offering a fantastic chance to meet other families.

The classes – which are suitable for ages three months to four years – work on a drop-in basis at £5 a class, with discounts available for siblings and for sessions bought in advance (£22.50 for five sessions). The prepaid card has no expiry date because we know how unpredictable life with little ones can be. Book in advance for a free taster session.

Ffa-La-La weekly classes offer Welsh for little learners through music and movement. Little ones and their parents can learn Welsh through original and traditional music, colourful props and exciting instruments. Suitable for children from 0 to 4 years, little ones can learn with children of a similar age in a fun and safe environment.

Not a Welsh speaker? Not a problem! Parents and carers don’t need any prior knowledge of Welsh to join in the fun.

Classes cost £4 for baby class (30 mins), £5 for 1-4yrs class (45minutes). £2 a sibling. Pay on the door. No need to book APART from JUMP – you must pre-book these classes by emailing info@ffalala.co.uk.

Little Fizz

Little Fizz award-winning pre-school classes are lively, imaginative, interactive and engaging to inspire active learning and creative development. A relaxed, friendly atmosphere means you and your little ones can enjoy special time together. Each 40-minute session includes a unique combination of music, movement, imaginative play, parachute, storytelling and sensory play. Afterwards, the fun continues with social/playtime with refreshments. Party Fizz and Little Fizz recently won two national awards in the What’s On 4 Little Ones awards.
