A giant elf tree house, a winter wonderland tea party, and two mischievous elves are among the family-friendly Christmas festivities at The Red Dragon Centre this Christmas.

Plus there’s festive bowling at Hollywood Bowl, classic Christmas films on the big screen at Odeon, and tasty seasonal desserts and hot drinks at Cadwaladers.

We visited earlier this week for a game of bowling at Hollywood Bowl and to meet the two elves, Bubble and Squeak.

Not long after entering the centre, located in Cardiff Bay, we saw a teddy bear’s tea party taking place, surrounded by snow, Christmas trees, penguins and other decorations

Nestled behind Cadwaladers is a wooden-effect tree house, decorated with red and white striped candy canes and cookies. Snow is settled on the roof, and from here emerges a huge tree, where a couple of elves are sitting. Lookout for the treehouse lights twinkling and bells jingling at intervals between the hours of 11am and 7pm.

It’s home to Bubble and Squeak, two mischievous elves whose antics around The Red Dragon Centre can be seen on the centre’s social media accounts. They’ve been spotted trying to life the weights at Simply Gym, having lunch at Volcano Japanese restaurant, enjoying a film at Odeon, and hiding in the cake counter at Cadwaladers – who incidentally have an indulgent range of festive special ice cream sundaes and drinks.

We took Bubble and Squeak for a game of 10 pin bowling at Hollywood Bowl, as you can see, we all had our Christmas jumpers on in celebration of Hollywood Bowl’s Family Christmas Party and Kids’ Christmas Parties.

The family Christmas party includes two games of bowling, nachos to nibble on at your lane, a choice of refreshing drink (including alcoholic drinks for adults), an adult or child meal after your game, Santa hats and balloons, and a winner’s trophy.

The Kids Christmas Party includes a game of bowling, a child’s meal each, a drink from a selection, a glow in the dark wristband, and balloons on the lane.

See the Hollywood Bowl Cardiff website for more information.

We love bowling as a family and it was so lovely to take time out at this busy time of year just the five of us to do something that’s so much fun.

Also at The Red Dragon Centre, Christmas film fans will love the news that Odeon is showing a range of classic Christmas films including Home Alone, The Polar Express, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol – a chance to watch these favourites on the big screen.

Other Christmas family-friendly releases at the Odeon include the CBeebies Christmas Show: Night Before Christmas (3 December); Clifford The Big Red Dog (10 December); West Side Story (10 December); SpiderMan: No Way Home (15 December).

See more on the Odeon Cardiff website here.

Plus there’s free parking for six hours at The Red Dragon Centre (subject to customers spending a minimum of £6 at valid retailers and parking validation).

Visit The Red Dragon Centre’s website for more information on all their festive events and activities this Christmas.
