Never mind counting down to Christmas; my children have been counting down to the arrival of the elves for weeks now! This our fifth year taking part in elf on the shelf and all three of my children are super excited to welcome their little friends back into our house.
We have three elves. I know – what was I thinking?! One for each of them!
Thank goodness I’ve written about them previously here on Cardiff Mummy Says because I was struggling to remember their names! Welcome back – Tallulah Tippy Twinkletoes, Sammy Shimmering Stardust and Georgie Giggles Glitterbug. I’m so glad I managed to rescue from our attic this evening without waking up my children!
Our elves are the soft and cuddly ones and they are mischievous rather than downright naughty. They are here to learn about how families celebrate Christmas so that they can report back to the North Pole.
Tomorrow morning my children will wake up to a festive-themed breakfast table complete with their Christmas pyjamas; a new decoration for our Christmas tree; and their wooden advent calendars. Each day they will be getting a few Lego pieces and then on Christmas Eve they’ll get the instructions.
Five years in and I admit I’m struggling to come up with new ideas so I’ve been scouring Pinterest and asking my parent blogger friends for their ideas.
Here are 30 easy ideas to get you through to Christmas. Thanks to the following bloggers for kindly letting me use their elf photos: Over 40 and a Mum to One; Real Mum Review; The Money Whisperer; Confessions of a Slummy Mummy; Thimble and Twig; Mummy of Two Point Five; Hectic Diabectic; Five Little Stars
Have you got an elf coming to stay this Christmas? Let me know in the comments below; on the Cardiff Mummy Says Facebook page or by tweeting me on @cardiffmummy And do share your photos to give inspiration to other parents.
