It’s not long until Easter holidays with most schools in and near Cardiff finishing on Friday 27 March for a two week break, with Easter Sunday falling on 5 April.

If you’re looking for ideas to entertain the family, there’s plenty going on. I’ll be publishing my full events listings very soon but in the meantime, here’s a few egg-stra special Easter-themed family days out. They’re all the kinds of places you can stay for a good few hours and all have lots for families to enjoy. They’re all popular attractions so advance booking is recommended for most of them.

Easter activities include meeting the Easter Bunny, an Easter trail with a chocolate prize, face painting, colouring corner, meet the small animals, lawn games, tractor rides and more. Plus the usual farm activities including the chance to see the animals, explore the woodland trails, and play in the playground.

Monday 30 March to Monday 6 April, 11am-3pm

Adults £11.90, children £8.30, under 5s free, family (2+3) £38.10, family (1+3) £26.20 or free for Cadw members

Head to Wales’ biggest castle for a dragon egg trail to explore. Plus Good Friday 3-Easter Monday 6 April will see a face painter, crafts and a storyteller. Advance booking is recommended.

Saturday 28 March-Sunday 12 April

Adults and children 93cm and over £19.68, children under 93cm £9.84 (online advance tickets; costs more on the door) 

Meet the Easter bunny, take part in an Easter egg hunt, bottle feed the lambs, watch a mini farmers show giving children a taste of life on the farm. Plus Mr Ev’s Easter show packed full of fun and surprises, a Candy Cannon showering you with sweet treats, lots of farm animals and plenty of indoor/outdoor play.  Book online in advance for cheaper ticket prices.

Monday 30 March-Tuesday 7 April, 10am-5pm

£11.50 per person, under 18 months free

The Easter Bunny will be visiting daily from 11am-2pm (£1.50 additional charge), you can take part in a quiz (£1), plus the usual farm attractions including a huge indoor soft play, outdoor play area, lots of animals, and the Cefn Mably mini railway. 

Saturday 28 March to Sunday 12 April, 10am-4pm

Explore Dyffryn’s beautifully restored gardens for this year’s Easter adventure trail. Pick up a trail map and bunny ears on arrival, follow the trail and tackle 10 hands-on, egg-citing activities along the way, from marble egg runs, chicken croquet and dress-up fun to exciting new games for 2026. 

Dyffryn Gardens also has two large wooden playgrounds, plus you can follow a self-guided Blossom Watch trail, and visit The Other Bennet Sister exhibition, celebrating the costumes, craft and creativity behind the BBC’s elegant new period production.

Magic, stories, and fun for the whole family. Meet Lily Rabbit and The Easter Bunny, three live interactive fairy shows each day, Easter Egg Stamp Trail, Alice Wonder themed area, Golden Egg Hunt, Easter colouring activity. Plus the usual Fonmon favourites including The Dinosaur Trail, archery and axe throwing in the medieval village (additional charges apply), and more. Booking advisable.

Saturday 28 March-Sunday 12 April

Free entry, £.4.50 to park all day

There’s a different theme each day at Gnoll Country Park, including superheroes, princesses, dinosaurs, and unicorns and fairies, as well as all the usual indoor and outdoor play, woodlands, trails and more. Easter Sunday sees a bonnet parade, egg hunt and more.

Wednesday 1 to Easter Monday 6 April

Under 12s £11.95, over 12’s £5.95 (no egg included) plus booking fee. Under 1s free 

Join the Bunny Academy Trail where children will become official Bunny Cadets on the 10‑point Bunny Academy Trail. Explore the farm, hunt for 10 famous bunny characters, get your map stamped at each stop, and hand them in at the end to receive a chocolate egg. Plus celebrate at the Bunny Graduation Party with Daley Bee’s lively, interactive show for the whole family; visit Will’s Farm Animal Stop – one of the trail stations where children can meet a selection of friendly animals; take the perfect picture at the spring-themed photo arches and displays; and visit the barn to meet the reindeer. Booking advisable.

Additional charges for Candleing and Handling, and tractor rides

Get a fascinating behind‑the‑scenes look at how Greenmeadow cares for and monitors its eggs in a candleing and handling chicken egg sessions, prebookable now for the Easter holidays. Learn how candling works, and get hands‑on with this part of farm life. Plus indoor play barn, outdoor adventure play and woodland play in the Dell, meet the animals in the barn, animal walk-through including goats, chickens and giant rabbits, daily schedule of free activities, including seasonal milking demonstration, Cuddle Corner, and animal tea time, and tractor rides (additional charge). The weekend of Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March includes live music and other family activities, see social media channels for details.

Easter Monday 6 April

Adults from £16.63, children from £13.96, 2s and under free, family (2+2) from £48.72 (early bird prices)

A fun-filled day of favourite characters including Peppa Pig and George, Hey Duggee, Peter Rabbitt and more. Enjoy live shows, dancing, singing, photo opportunities, and plenty of activities for the whole family. Highlights include a Wicked singalong, Lucy Lost-It show with magic, balloons and escapology, Farmers Frank and Dave and their chocolate egg laying chickens, Easter crafts and gifts, and more. Must be booked in advance. Margam Park has plenty for families, including two large playgrounds, fairytale village, farm area. Children 3+ £13.50 for the Easter Experience, adults £11.50 and under 3s £5.50 (usual farm entry)

The Easter Experience offers children 3+ an Easter trail with chocolate prize, Easter craft activities, meet the Easter Bunny, rabbit and guinea pig petting, plus themed food and drink, and spring decor. Plus experience all the usual wildlife park attractions, including 300+ animals across 21 acres, and indoor and outdoor fun. Booking advisable.

Saturday 21-Sunday 22 March, Friday 27 March-Sunday 12 April

£12 per person, under 2s free

Mountain View Ranch is back open after a winter of improvements, with a fun-filled day Easter day out.  Pick up a map and follows the Golden Easter Egg Trail, discovering fun adventures along the way. Visit the much-loved Gruffalo Trail, including live storytelling over the Easter weekend. Meet the bug gang in the new Bugs and Mini Beasts trail. Plus favourite Ranch activities including jumping pillows, tree houses, fairy forest and more, plus new for this season, a low ropes course. Booking advisable.

Tredegar House is turning into a portal through the ages, for the ultimate time-travelling Easter adventure. Unearth stories buried in the past and leap forward through the centuries, revealing how celebrations, fashions and everyday life have changed over 500 years. Each stop on the journey, meet a different Morgan in time who brings history vividly to life through hands-on activities and puzzles for each time traveller. A playful, fun day out for all ages. Explore the story of Tredegar House and connect with the generations who shaped its remarkable history. 

Friday 20 March-Sunday 31 May

Explore the wonderful world of wetlands with Gozzle the gosling, from Julia Donaldson and Sara Ogilvie’s new picture book. Follow the interactive trail to discover what it takes for your fuzzy little friend to become a grown-up goose. From her first nibble to her first splash, right up to the day she flies away on her first migration. Along the way, you’ll strike some funny animal poses, hop along stepping stones to practice your balance, and seek out a meal using your sense of smell. For an additional £4, you can add a Gozzle activity pack, filled with games, puzzles and  sheet of stickers. You can also become an animal helper in Gozzle’s Vet Check, where you’ll nurse your toy goose back to health (10am-10.30am/2.30pm-3.00pm during school holidays and weekends). No need to book in advance, but tickets are 10% cheaper if you do.
