8 family-friendly Mother’s Day events in and around Cardiff this weekend
There are loads of family-friendly things to do this Mother’s Day in and around Cardiff. Here are eight family-friendly events happening on Saturday and Sunday that are suitable for all ages. Let me know if there’s anything else happening locally you think I should add.

Mother’s Day Workshop, St Fagans National History Museum
Saturday 14th March, 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm
Young people can make a card for their mum in this free creative drop-in workshop. The museum itself is also free to visit, although you will have to pay a few pounds for parking.

Lunchtime Concert, National Museum of Wales, Cardiff
Sunday 15th March, 1pm
Students from the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will perform in the museum’s grand galleries. The concert isn’t specifically for Mother’s Day but it is suitable for all ages and free. Places are limited and must be booked in advance at the museum’s information desk.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea Party at Café Junior, Fanny Street, Cardiff
Sunday 15th March, 3pm-5pm
The perfect venue for children to play, mums to relax and everyone to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea. Places are limited and must be pre-booked. Prices are £7.95 for adults and £4.95 for children, which includes usual entry fees to Café Junior.

Free flowers for the first 20 mums through the door, Parc Play Cardiff
Sunday 15th March, 10am-6pm
If your children forget to get you a gift, head to Parc play centre early as the first 20 mums through the door will be given a free bunch of flowers. They will also be selling ice creams for a bargain 99p. Wrap up warm though; it gets cold while the children are off playing.

Mother’s Day Spring Wreath Workshop, Cwmcarn Forest Drive, Crosskeys
Saturday 14th March, 11am-3pm
For a cost of £3 per child, children aged 5 and above can make a spring wreath for their mums, using craft materials including crepe tissue and paper plates.

Mother’s Day Crafts, Bryngarw House and Country Park Visitor Centre, Bridgend
Saturday 14 March 2015, 11am-3pm
Children can drop-in between 11am and 3pm to hand-make a Mother’s Day card and paper flowers for their mums, at a cost of £2 per child.

Make-up and Mouseskins, Llancaiach Fawr Manor, near Nelson
Sunday 15th March
Beauty tips, 17th century style at this grand manor. Mums visit free but normal admission prices apply for everyone else.

Miniature Railways and Tramways, Heath Model Railway, Heath Park, Cardiff
Sunday 15th March, 1pm-5pm
A fab and fun family day out, the whole family can go for rides on miniature steam, diesel and electric trains, plus a tram. Entry is £1.50 per person and rides £1.50 per person. Under 3s are free.
