Cardiff’s Upside Down House UK has opened – and you can get 10% off tickets with code cardiffmummy10

Located outside Capitol Shopping Centre/top of Churchill Way, you won’t miss Cardiff’s newest visitor attraction.

Not only is the quirky bright green house itself upside down, but step inside and all the furniture is stuck to the ceiling or hanging upside down on the walls, and the floors are wonky too. A word of warning, it might make you feel a little disorientated or even queasy. Staff are on hand to tell you the best way to pose – from looking like you are sitting on the ceiling to levitating above the table, or floating in the air –and then you can flip your photos around for some brilliant optical illusions. Great fun for all ages, my teens and tween loved it.

There are upside down houses across the UK, but the Cardiff one has some lovely Welsh touches with plush dragons, Welsh scarves and images of local landmarks on the walls.

The ground floor is part-accessible for wheelchairs. Guests can access it via a temporary ramp, leading into the inverted experience with plenty of photo opportunities. The attraction itself has 2 floors, separated by a spiral staircase, with no lift or ramp alternative to the second floor.

It’ll be in Cardiff for a year so you have plenty of time to visit. It’s best to book in advance but on quieter days you can just turn up and pay on the door.

Tickets cost from £6.45 per person aged 4+ (3 and unders are free), with the experience lasting up to 20 minutes. Get 10% off tickets with code cardiffmummy10 (valid all year round on regular entry prices).
