Cardiff Children’s Literature Festival is back for 2026 – and for the next 5 days Cardiff Mummy Says followers can get children’s tickets for just £1.

Taking place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April, the award-winning festival is perfect for children aged 3 to 12 with a fantastic round up of events from English and Welsh language authors.

Expect live sessions with brilliant children’s authors and illustrators, hands-on creative workshops, storytelling sessions that bring books to life, and opportunities to discover new favourite stories. Events take place at various locations across the city centre, including National Museum Cardiff, Cardiff Castle, the Old Library and Cornerstone.

The festival has been helping to create lifelong readers since 2013, with a fantastic programme of authors, illustrators and workshops to entertain and inspire young people about reading.

This year’s event is a magical celebration of stories, imagination, and creativity designed especially for children of primary school age.

Highlights for English language readers this year include sessions with Welsh author and illustrator Huw Aaron – Jungle Storytime: The Monkeypig for younger readers and Discover the Unfairies for those 9+; Meet the Football GOATS (Greatest Footballers of All Time) with Matt Oldfield and Seth Burkett; Forest Girl with BBC presenter and author Lucy Owen and illustrator Rebecca Harry; and Whale Song, a journey beneath the waves with Children’s Laureate Wales, Nicola Davies.

Meanwhile Welsh language event highlights include Storytime with S4C’s Parc Glan Gwil for children age 3+; Bach a Mawr for ages 5+ and Mira a’r Trip Ysgol for ages 7+, with Luned Aaron; and an interactive session with debut author Endaf Griffiths trying to solve the mystery of the missing sheep in celebration of his new novel Dirgelwch y Defaid (ages 7+).

Tickets cost £5 per person (plus booking fee) for adults and £5 for children under 12.

However, until Sunday Cardiff Mummy Says followers can get children’s tickets for just £1.

Simply use the code MUMMYSAYS when booking online. All children under 12 must be accompanied by a full-paying adult. One full-paying adult can supervise a maximum of four children. All tickets are subject to availability. Applies to bookings made before 11.45pm on Sunday 18 April 2026.
