We had an extra special assignment today to kick-start the school Easter holidays – we headed to St David’s Centre in Cardiff to be among the first to see the Nick Jr BrickLive trail which sees 15 favourite characters from the channel bought to life, made entirely from toy bricks.

The trail opened today and runs until Sunday 24 April, with models of characters from Paw Patrol, Shimmer and Shine, Abby Hatcher, and Blaze and the Monster Machine to spot, located around the city centre shopping precinct.

Visitors can collect a free trail map from the customer service desk on the upper level of the shopping centre, which shows where the 15 life-size models are located.

There’s space to fill in the character names and, once you’ve spotted them all, you can take the map back to the customer service desk and receive a special reward sticker.

Plus if you post a selfie on Instagram with #NickJrCardiff and tag @FORCardiff you could be in with a chance of winning one of 10 prizes.

We had fun spotting the brick statues around the shopping centre today during a trip to the city centre, where we also headed to Cardiff Central Library and to the cinema, and had no trouble finding them all.

They life-size figures seriously impressive – some of them took more than 100 hours to make and use 150,000+ bricks. The level of detail in them is incredible. As you can see from these photos they are such brilliant representations of the much loved characters.

Each brick model is accompanied by an information board telling you more about the character, how long it took to make and how many bricks were used.

The model getting the most attention when we visited today was definitely the huge Blaze car from Blaze and the Monster Machines. Smaller children can even sit inside the car, making for a great photo reminder of a fun day out.
